Mathematics
1. Aims:
The aims of Mathematics Subject include facilitating students to master knowledge, concepts and skills of number, shape and space, measures and data handling and developing students’ thinking, observation, memory and problem-solving skills. It is hoped that students can apply what they’ve learned in the daily life and their ability to engage in life-long learning can be developed.
2. Objectives:
    2.1 To help students master the basic knowledge and skills in the following four areas:
    2.1.1 Number:
• Formulate and solve problems involving numbers
    2.1.2

Measures:
• Choose and use a variety of non-standard and standard units to record results
• Recognize the degree of accuracy and the approximate nature of measurement
• Apply the concept of money in daily transaction activities.

    2.1.3 Shape and Space:
• Recognize intuitively and understand the properties of 2D and 3D shapes.
• Identify, describe, make and group 2D and 3D shapes.
• Identify, describe, appreciate and make use of shapes
• Identify and describe location.
    2.1.4 Data Handling:
• Identify ways of collecting, organizing and handling data
• Make and read simple statistical graphs
• Apply data and graphs to solve simple questions.
    2.2 Make use of the knowledge and skills learnt in different areas to solve simple daily problems.

2.3 Develop students’ thinking, observation, memory and problem-solving skills and promote their life-long learning skills.
